The Effect of Psychodrama on the Tendencies of Creative Drama Leaders’ Emotion

Objective

The purpose of this study is to improve the ability of creative drama leaders to-express their feelings and foster their ability to recognize and express their emotions through psychodrama.

Methodology

This study was conducted with creative drama leader volunteers. The group sessions consisted of 16 sessions held from 08.10.2017 to 25.11.2018, on Sundays, for two and a half hours. The sessions started with 8 people and ended with an extra two volunteers for a total of 10 members. The sessions continued under the supervision of a co-therapist. In this study, the Emotional Expression Scale was applied to the group in the first and last sessions to gauge the effectiveness of psychodrama on the leaders over the course of the -study. At the beginning of the study, informed consent was obtained and information was obtained from the members via an individual interview form and demographic information form.

Results

The group members were selected from creative drama leaders. The 3.2-point difference, which resulted from the pre-post test in which psychodrama sessions were effective, showed that there was no statistically significant progress in expressing emotions at the end of the session (p> 0.05) The difference in the Proximity Sub-Dimension was determined to be significantly increased statistically (p <0.05) In addition, the group members stated that, as a creative drama leader, they shielded themselves from emotional expression and made progress in opening themselves up with psychodrama.

Conclusion

According to the scores of psychodrama on the tendency of creative drama leaders to express their emotions, the scores of creative drama leaders were shown to increase their tendency to express their emotions with psychodrama in the last test of Proximity Sub-Dimension. However, this finding was not statistically significant.
