The article: Action research with sociodrama in a healthcare institution,
will be the central focus of the session.
Abstract
This article presents an action research study initiated in 2021, which employed the
sociodrama method within a medical institution with healthcare assistants to improve
their situation. The study discusses firstly the implications of the deepening and
broadening nature of action research knowledge generation within that specific
context. Secondly, it delves into the sociodrama method, emphasizing its compatibility
with both the fundamental elements and the core principles of action research. Lastly,
the study presents various project outcomes, categorized based on their focus: direct
effects on individuals and groups, actions and action plans implemented at the group
and institutional levels, and identified issues concerning the institutional and cultural
context.

Our guest speakers: Ágnes Blaskó.
Ágnes Blaskó is a researcher, sociodrama and action method leader trainer, and methodological developer at the Sociology and Communication Department of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, as well as the founder and head of the Action Method Education and Research Centre. Her work focuses on how social change can be facilitated through sociodrama processes and interventions developed together with the affected individuals and communities. Another central focus of her research is exploring how the knowledge produced through Morenian action methods within group processes can be recognised, validated, and made meaningful in broader social, educational, and institutional contexts. She is also engaged in developing and teaching action method interventions designed to purposefully explore and uncover specific social questions, dynamics, and perspectives. She has worked as both a trainer and practitioner of these methods in diverse field contexts, including projects with refugees, LGBTQ+ communities, low-status individuals, and law students in various institutional settings.
